Ynglŷn â Taith.  About Taith.
Taith is a small charity organisation that tries to match requests for transport with drivers that can take them to their destination.

It is not a taxi service and all clients have to show they have no convenient other way of reaching their destination, for example, because of disability, mobility problems or are unable to reach public transport easily or at convenient times.

It is not a free service, a charge is made according to distance travelled, currently 50 pence per mile with a £2 minimum charge. This is paid directly to the vehicle driver to cover their fuel and running costs.  Taith pay the driver for the distance between their starting point and the pick-up location.

All drivers are volunteers, they give their time freely and use their own vehicles, we ask that you respect that and are courteous to them.  All drivers are DBS checked at Taiths expense.

Taith covers the area between Fairbourne and Aberdyfi, extending as far inland as Abergynolwyn. Under some circumstances the boundary may be extended, for example for clients to attend hospital appointments that are out of the area. This should be discussed with the coordinator at the time of booking the journey.

If you think Taith can help you, or you can help Taith, you are in the right place.

The 'hub' of operations is Tywyn Library where staff will be able to answer questions and help sign up drivers and clients into the scheme.  The forms on this web site can also be used. New drivers and users will be contacted to explain their obligations before joining Taith.  Most business will be by telephone but clients can also use a transport request form on this web site if they prefer.
